    The Illusion of Separation

Why Do I Still Struggle to Experience Oneness?…

    Understanding Oneness

The individual is inquiring about experiencing oneness, a concept that was introduced at the beginning of a meditation series, and despite already believing in it, they want to deeply feel and experience this idea 00:00.

The concept of oneness is appealing, but the individual’s mind sometimes questions its validity, suggesting that it might just be an assumption since it cannot be known for certain 00:42.

A previous conversation is referenced, where a woman was asked if she could feel that she exists, and she responded affirmatively, with the elaboration that the only thing being could say if it were talking is “I am”, highlighting a similarity that the individual sees but still struggles to fully experience 00:49.

The individual acknowledges the similarity in the concept of oneness but continues to struggle with truly experiencing it, indicating a desire to move beyond intellectual understanding to a deeper, more personal experience 01:11.

    The Experience of Oneness

The idea of oneness is understood and resonated with, but it seems to conflict with the experience of many, as the fact that there is only one is intellectual, while the experience is of many 01:21.

All that is ever known is the knowing of one’s experience, and knowing is the only substance present in experience 01:43.

The only thing that can be experienced, has been experienced, or will be experienced is knowing, which applies to all individuals 02:00.

Even if God knows anything, its experience would only be made of knowing, as everything it knows must be composed of knowing 02:16.

It is acknowledged that everything known by God, or any entity, must be made of knowing, implying that knowing is the fundamental substance of experience 02:27.

Pure Knowing Is All There Is

Knowing is considered the only substance that has or could ever be known, and it is the only substance that anyone has ever found, with this concept being discussed from a standpoint of personal experience rather than abstract theory 02:33.

The idea of knowing is described as one thing, a single substance that appears as many things, but is ultimately one, referred to as pure knowing or pure experiencing, emphasizing its unified nature 03:10.

A distinction is made that knowing is not a thing, but rather a singular, all-encompassing entity, with the discussion touching on the possibility of multiple forms of knowing, but ultimately suggesting that there is only one 03:26.

The conversation explores the idea that everything experienced could be a form of knowing, but also acknowledges the potential for individual experiences of knowing to differ, leading to questions about the possibility of multiple knowings 03:33.

The discussion delves into the theoretical possibility of more than one form of knowing, with the speaker considering the idea that their experience and another’s experience could both be forms of knowing, but still questioning why this would not imply the existence of multiple knowings 03:42.

    Limitations of the Finite Mind

The finite mind has a limitation that prevents all experiences in reality from being perceived, allowing only a limited view of the present moment, such as seeing the contents of a room but not the contents of a kitchen in a different location, like Germany 03:53.

This limitation does not imply that the spaces being viewed are separate, but rather that the finite mind is unable to see beyond its current scope, similar to not being able to see someone’s thoughts, which does not mean the space where their thoughts appear is different from the space where one’s own thoughts appear 04:22.

The assumption that a space must be limited because its contents cannot be seen is a simplistic mistake, and the inability to see objects in a different location, such as a kitchen in Germany, is due to the limitations of the mind, not the actual separation of spaces 04:40.

Once the objection that the mind is a barrier to oneness has been dissolved through understanding, it becomes clear that knowing is the only substance, and although the content of knowing may be limited, this reveals nothing about the nature of knowing itself 05:22.

Knowing is recognized as the only substance that has ever been known, and it is a single, unified substance, which is an important consideration in understanding the concept of oneness 05:42.

    The Evidence of Sense Perception

The concept of oneness should not be difficult to understand if it is actually one’s experience, as the real challenge lies in grasping the idea of multiplicity and diversity, since nobody has ever experienced more than one thing 05:55.

The only thing that has ever been experienced is pure knowing, similar to watching a screen where the only thing seen is the screen itself, with no other objects or things present 06:08.

The belief in the evidence of sense perception, which suggests that there are multiple things made of matter outside the mind, is a fundamental erroneous presumption that underlies the world culture 06:35.

It is advised to trust one’s own experience rather than relying on external information, and to recognize that in one’s experience, only one thing is actually experienced 06:49.

The goal is to help individuals discover this truth for themselves, without simply believing it, and to encourage them to lead a life that is consistent with this experience 07:02.

    Exploring Oneness

The process of deeply understanding oneness requires discovery and exploration, rather than simply being told about the nature of reality 07:12.

It is encouraged to not blindly believe statements about the nature of reality, but rather to explore the possibility of it and come to one’s own conviction, using provided pathways and tools 07:26.

The goal is for individuals to know for themselves that there is only knowing, and to understand the implications of this understanding on their interior life, thoughts, feelings, activities, and relationships 08:05.

The path to understanding oneness involves knowing more and more deeply, and seeing that everything is knowing, rather than trying to achieve a specific feeling of being one with something or someone 08:25.

Initially, the concept of oneness may be misunderstood as a feeling of being one with others or perceiving a sense of unity, but it is actually about understanding that everything is knowing 08:44.

    THE ILLUSION OF SEPARATION

The illusion of separation does not disappear, but rather the belief in separation disappears, allowing understanding to override the illusion of multiplicity and diversity 08:58.

Sense perception continues to provide misleading information, such as the earth being flat and the sun rising and setting, but with newfound understanding, these perceptions are no longer believed 09:09.

Despite sense perception indicating the presence of many people in a room, the true reality is that there is one infinite being present, appearing as multiple individuals through the filter of sense perception 09:43.

As understanding of unity overrides the presumption of separation, it infuses the apparent separation of the world with feelings of oneness, peace, love, and creativity 10:02.

The newfound understanding of unity does not eliminate the appearance of separation, but rather allows individuals to no longer live their lives based on the presumption of separation, leading to a more peaceful and loving existence 10:10.
